I have been working with digital photos and scanned images for a bit and am really enjoying it! Here are a couple.

Im using a microprocessor to mirror the Led blink speed in hopes to have the light go on specifically when the Red of the RGB scanner is reading information with the hopes of creating an LED "Light Brush" for a scanner. Below is a low resolution version of one of my pieces.

Hi Everyone: I want to buy a scanner that will work upside down. Does anyone know of a brand that will do that? I called Espson and they said none of there products do that. Thanks for your help.

It's my understanding that these "stripes" are essentially "Newton's Rings" -ha! Even though they are not "rings". If you are using a CIS scanner and not one with a CCD array- these "stripes" are likely to occur when capturing 3D objects. Try an Epson PERFECTION model, any model. I occasionally get a very thin line- perhaps 1 pixel wide that you can only see at 100% actual pixel size or more. It appears to be red, or a "rainbow" of shades. Sometimes this is a malfunction of the CCD device and the solution is to return the scanner as defective. Frankly, I'd buy a new Epson Perfection model- if this continues to happen then you know it has to do with the communication between the scanner and the computer.

Marsha, why don't you try that new MicroTek Artix. The fella that does that sparkly jewelry swears it has losts more depth of field than the Epson 500.00 models.

Tanks, i didn't find any solution yet, it seem to be an alignment of the hear the problem. But you, with only one line , it is most probably a problem with light.

Well Pierre, I wish I had a simple answer for you. I own a Plustek brand flatbed scanner which I really like better than my newer all-in-one Hewlett Packard. The Plustek I purchased in 2002 in Taif Saudi Arabia. After 7 years it still works great, has scanned literally thousands of images with no problem. I bought this model mainly because it will also scan slides and negatives. When I scan the transparent films I get the same annoying type strip on the image. Fortunately it's only one strip, very narrow (light blue color) and it (like yours) runs the length (longitudinal axis) of the picture. I've yet to find the solution to the problem. But if I do,,,I'll let you know. It must have something to do with the scanning process itself, as it appears common to different brands of scanners. Good Luck

Hoping to upgrade my system later this year. I've used the Epson Perfection 4990 scanner forever. Very satisfied, but since I'm planning to purchase new, thought I'd ask around to see if any of you have other suggestions. Specifically, I'd love to hear if anyone has found a scanner with greater depth of field or an adjustable focal length. Thanks in advance!

I have a big problem when i use my scanner, this problem is with 2 scanner and with 2 computer. I have black stripe on the picture I make with. Did you have the same think ? How did you solve it ? The scanner : Lide 70 (first picture) and Epson 2400 Photo (second picture). My other scanner work fine.

Well it seems quite simple : If you want to add something to an already existant discussion just click on it in the "Latest discussion" section. If you want to start a new one, just click on "add new" in the first line of the "Latest discussion". That's mainly it !!
